Matt
Brickley
Head Coach
Matt Brickley is a 1995 graduate of Ursuline High School in Youngstown, Ohio. While attending Youngstown State University and majoring in Education and Social Studies, Brickley coached at Canfield Middle School for 5 years winning 2 league titles and having back-to-back undefeated seasons.
After graduation Coach Brickley moved to Georgia where he taught Social Studies and was Head Varsity Wrestling Coach at Central Gwinnett High School for 8 years. Coach Brickley’s accomplishments include 100 dual wins and 6 state place winners as a head coach, 2009-10 Wheeler Assistant Coach of the Year, 2009-10 and 2010-11 Cobb County Wrestling Association Assistant Coach of the Year. Coach Brickley became Wheeler’s Head Coach for the 2011-12 season.
Coach Brickley holds a Master’s degree in Sports Management from The United States Sports Academy and a 6-year certificate from Walden University. Matt Brickley has been married to his wife Kelly since 2004 and they have 2 boys, Carter and Jax.

Steve
Gatanis
Asst. Coach
Coach Gatanis received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland in 1982. He served on active duty after that for five years as a Naval Oceanographic Officer. After resigning his active duty commission, Steve Gatanis went back to school and graduated in March of 1991 from Life University in Marietta, Georgia with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. After that, he practice full time in Bristol and Johnson City, Tennessee, and practiced part time and taught at Life University. Coach Gatanis was also an administrator at Life University (department head, division chair, and assistant dean of the college of chiropractic). Coach Gatanis then taught at Pebblebrook High School for three years before transferring to Wheeler. He currently is in his sixth year at Wheeler. Mat Experience: Coach Gatanis wrestled four years in high school in New Jersey (1973 - 1976) and one year at Annapolis (1978). He hold a first degree (Shodan) black in Judo. Steve was with the Penns Grove Judo Club in New Jersey for four years (1973 - 1976) and with the U. S. Naval Academy Judy Club for four years (1976 - 1982). He has extensive competition experience both in wrestling and judo. Coach Gatanis also received a first degree black belt in Taekwondo along with my daughter in 2009.
